It's Okay is a picture book I started for my master's degree project and am looking to publish.
Written by me and aimed at children aged 7 to 11 years old, I chose to paint it with visible brush strokes and a restricted colour palette. The texture comes alive and enhance what the characters feel, provoking the sensation of movement often associated with expressionism.
The book revolves around a little girl who lives in a heart shaped house. After loosing a loved one, she is visited by a big character who represents the feeling she will be hosting.
The brush I used was one I made from a rock texture I photographed, rough and unpredictable, just like bereaving and its emotions.
